Lesotho senior men’s national team head coach, Leslie Notsi, says his team is fully fit and ready for the challenge ahead of their 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifier against Nigeria on Friday.
Speaking ahead of the fixture, Notsi confirmed that his squad has a clean bill of health and is focused on building upon their recent performances.
“Fortunately, we don’t have any serious injuries that we can worry about coming into this fixture. So, it’s a clean bill of health for us,” Notsi said.
The coach acknowledged the strength of the Super Eagles but belieeves his side can compete with self-belief and determination.
“It’s a fixture that we are expecting to be tough, playing one of the best teams on the continent — a side with some of the best players in Africa competing in Europe’s top leagues.
“We are approaching this match knowing it’s not going to be easy, but the self-belief that we’ve shown before gives us confidence. We believe we have an opportunity to continue where we left off in our last match in November 2023.”
Notsi added that recent results have given his players motivation to fight for valuable points in their qualifying campaign.
“Truly, it has given us hope to redeem ourselves in the last two fixtures we played. It has given us hope that we can secure points that we believe can put Lesotho at a better stage.”
Lesotho will be looking to cause an upset when they take on the star-studded Nigerian side as both teams continue their quest for a place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
