By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Nigeria forward Macleans Chinonyerem opened her goals account for Chinese Women’s Super League (WSL) side Liaoning Baye FC during a 3-0 win over defending champions Wuhan Giangda on Saturday.

Her national team compatriot, Folashade Ijamilusi also had an assist for Liaoning Baye FC.

It took just 40 seconds for the former Al Shabab player to open scoring for the travelers with the two Nigerians combinning.

Ijamilusi set up Macleans for the team’s first goal in less than a minute.

Burkina Faso’s Naomi Kabre doubled the advantage in the 40th minute.

She sealed the win with her second goal of the game in the 69th minute.

The result was a surprising one for Liaoning which recently gained promotion to the top flight against the league holders.

The newcomers recruited key players ahead of the league opener including Nigeria duo, Chononyerema and Folashade Ijamilusi.

They moved to the top of the table with three points after such an impressive win at Wuhan.

Up next is another league match against Henan Songshan Leongmen on March 12, 2025.
