Malmö FF in talks to sign Nigerian goalkeeper Francis Uzoho from Omonia Nicosia

By Wale Mustapha
Reigning Swedish top-flight club Malmö FF has initiated discussions with Cypriot club Omonia Nicosia regarding the potential transfer of Nigerian goalkeeper Francis Uzoho.
Uzoho, who has recently fallen out of favor as the first-choice goalkeeper for the Nigerian national team due to the excellent form of Stanley Nwabali, could be on his way to Sweden if the two clubs can reach an agreement.
Malmö FF, currently leading the Swedish Allsvenskan league with a seven-point cushion over Djurgården, is looking to strengthen its squad as it eyes the league title.
According to 24 Sports, Malmö has contacted Omonia Nicosia to secure the services of the former Deportivo La Coruna goalkeeper.
The transfer fee for Uzoho is expected to be around half a million Euros, a manageable sum for the 23-time Swedish league champions.
Uzoho, who has won the Cyprus Cup with Omonia in both 2022 and 2023, would join Malmö as a backup to their first-choice goalkeeper, Andriano.
With 32 appearances for the Super Eagles and African Cup of Nations (AFCON) bronze and silver medals to his name, the 24-year-old Uzoho brings significant experience to the table.
The potential move to Malmö FF represents an opportunity for Uzoho to rejuvenate his club career while contributing to Malmö’s continued success.
