Michael Olise: Real Madrid move blocked by Bayern pact despite Mbappe push

Real Madrid’s pursuit of Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise has moved far beyond transfer-market gossip – but a private non‐aggression pact between the two giants is threatening to derail any deal.

French media reports say Olise has set his sights on joining Real Madrid after the 2026 World Cup, a preference strengthened during the tournament by his close relationship with France team-mate Kylian Mbappe.

German outlet Bild reported that Mbappe has gone further than simply praising Real Madrid to Olise. According to the report, the France captain has already informed Real president Florentino Perez of the Bayern winger’s desire to move to the Bernabeu, stressing that the 24-year-old would be a major asset to the club’s long-term sporting project.

However, French outlet Foot Mercato says Real Madrid’s plans have hit an immediate obstacle: an informal agreement between Perez and Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer.

The understanding, which has not been made public by either club, is said to stipulate that neither side will open talks with a player from the other team without first officially informing that player’s club.

Bayern move to secure star with huge pay rise

While Real Madrid wait, Bayern Munich are acting to keep control of the situation.

Olise’s current contract runs until the summer of 2029, but Bayern are already working on an improved deal to secure his long-term future in Bavaria. According to the same report, the German champions are prepared to raise his annual salary from around €14m to close to €25m.

The package would also include assurances over Bayern’s sporting ambitions over the next few seasons, as the club looks to convince Olise he can compete for the biggest trophies without leaving the Allianz Arena.
