Micheal Jatau threatens legal action against Nasarawa United over unpaid 19.7m salaries

Former goalkeeper trainer of Nasarawa United, Micheal Jatau is set to drag the club and Nasarawa State Government to court over his N19.7 million unpaid entitlements.
In his pre-action notice, Jatau will be seeking legal redress in 30 days if his entitlements are not paid by his former employers and the goalkeeper trainer who spoke through his counsel, Ayuba Yirvoms accused the Nasarawa United and the State Government for being insensitive to his well being and plight during his four-year stint as a coach.
“Contract agreement by the Nasarawa United Football Club, Lafia as a Coach on Nov. 1, 2019 which elapsed on Nov. 1, 2021, with an automatic renewal of another two (2) years,” Yiroms said through a letter.
But that to his (Jatau’s) greatest dismay, the Club failed to honour the terms of the agreement leading the Club to “owing him the sum of N19.7 million being his lawful entitlement while working for the Club which they refused to liquidate despite repeated demands.
“In the event our client’s demand is not met which we believe is unlikely, we will be left with no option than to seek legal redress, our claim is contained herein and the Defendants will be Nasarawa State Government and Nasarawa United.
“As Solicitors to Coach Michael Jatau (hereinafter referred to as our Client) on whose instruction we write you this demand notice, we anticipate your favourable and prompt response in this regard.
“Consequent upon the above, we urge you to intervene by ensuring that the payment is made, which will go a long way to ameliorate our client’s ordeal which is better imagined than experienced.”
