Mohamed Salah joins Trabzonspor on two-year deal with 20% merchandise clause

Mohamed Salah has officially completed his move to Turkish club Trabzonspor, opening a new chapter in the Egypt international’s career after leaving Liverpool at the end of last season.

The transfer was concluded on Wednesday, with Salah joining Trabzonspor after nine years at Liverpool. His time at Anfield was marked by a series of individual and team achievements, bringing to an end one of the most significant periods of his professional career.

Trabzonspor becomes the seventh club Salah has represented. Before arriving in Turkey, the forward played for Al Mokawloon Al Arab, Basel, Chelsea, Fiorentina, Roma and Liverpool.

Details of the agreement were reported by Turkish newspaper Aksam, which said Salah has signed a two-year contract with Trabzonspor.

According to the report, the 33-year-old will earn an annual salary of 17m euros under the terms of his deal with the Turkish club. The agreement also contains a notable commercial clause linked to the use of his image and name.

The newspaper reported that Salah will receive 20% of the revenue generated by Trabzonspor from the sale of products carrying his name or picture. The clause is included in the contract alongside his salary and the two-year length of his stay.

Salah’s move to Trabzonspor follows the end of his long association with Liverpool. He departed Anfield at the conclusion of the previous season after nine years with the club, before completing his transfer to the Turkish side.

The Egypt international had also held talks with Besiktas earlier in the current summer transfer window. However, those discussions did not result in a move because the two parties could not reach an agreement over the financial terms of the proposed contract.

Instead, Salah has now committed his future to Trabzonspor on a deal that reportedly combines a fixed annual salary with a share of income from merchandise featuring his name or image.

The Turkish club is therefore the latest destination in a career that has taken Salah through seven teams. His route began with Al Mokawloon Al Arab before he moved abroad to Basel, then continued with spells at Chelsea, Fiorentina and Roma. He subsequently joined Liverpool, where he spent nine years before making his switch to Trabzonspor.

His arrival marks the beginning of a new phase in his career, with the contract details reported by Aksam placing particular emphasis on both his annual pay and the commercial returns connected to his identity.
