Monaco will be looking to secure their eighth straight Ligue 1 win when they travel to the Stade Pierre-Mauroy to face struggling Lille on Friday night.

Thanks to their remarkable hot streak, Monaco have claimed to fourth in the table and now sit just three points behind second-place Marseille.

Meanwhile, Lille find themselves down in tenth place. The 2020-21 champions are 11 points shy of Monaco and a whopping 28 points behind newly-crowned champions PSG.

Lille head into Friday’s clash on the back of a disappointing 3-0 defeat to Troyes. Strangely, they conceded three penalties and also had two men sent off.

Lille have now lost three of their last four league games, having also fallen to Lens and Reims earlier this month.

When you look at the bigger picture, Les Dogues have only managed to win one of their previous six Ligue 1 outings – recording two draws and three losses in the process.

To make matters worse, Lille are the lowest scorers in the top 11, while only seven teams have scored fewer goals this season.

Meanwhile, Monaco claimed their seventh victory on the bounce as they claimed a 2-0 win over Angers last weekend – thanks to goals from Abdoulaye Bamba and Wissam Ben Yedder.

Monaco’s hot streak began with a 3-0 victory against PSG. Since then, they have seen off Metz, Troyes, Rennes, Nice and Saint-Etienne before last weekend’s triumph over Angers.

It is also worth noting that Monaco have lost just two of their last 13 Ligue 1 games, picking up nine wins and two draws along the way.

Only four sides have scored more goals than Monaco this term, while only two teams have a better defensive record in Ligue 1.

Head-to-head: It is worth pointing out that Monaco have managed to win just one of their previous five meetings with Lille across all competitions.

On top of that, four of the last five encounters between Lille and Monaco have produced over 2.5 goals. In the reverse fixture back in November, the teams played out a 2-2 draw.

Team news: Lille will be without the suspended duo of Renato Sanches and Burak Yilmaz on Friday after they received red cards last time out.

As for Monaco, Krepin Diatta (cruciate ligament rupture) and Cesc Fabregas (ankle injury) are both currently unavailable.

Given the contrasting form of these two sides, high-flying Monaco look set to get the better of struggling Lille on Friday.

Forebet predicts that both teams will score at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy. However, Monaco are expected to outscore Lille.
