Monday Odigie vows to avoid Bendel Insurance complacency amid incredible form

By Wale Mustapha
Head Coach of Bendel Insurance, Monday Odigie has refused to let his side get carried away with their unbeaten run in the 2022/2023 Nigeria Premier Football League season.
The Benin Arsenal extended their unbeaten run in the league to 14 games following another 1-1 draw against Remo with Kwame Mawuena had given Remo Stars the lead inside opening 16th minute before Divine Nwachukwu responded four minutes later with his superb finish to rescue the visitors from defeat.
Despite a record-extending undefeated streak, the former Nigeria U17 gaffer explained his team’s priorities, while praising his boys for their strong character and assures they will continue working hard and fight till the end.
“We played against a very good side and we didn’t take them for granted, If they had converted all their chances against us it would have been a different story,” Odigie told Nigeriafootball.ng.
“Insurance is a young team and we know that if we don’t fight it will be difficult for us to remain in the NPFL.
“We are not aware of the unbeaten run, thinking about it will bring about complacency and this is not the time for that, we just want to keep learning and working on our mistakes to get better, we don’t work by expectations but fight for everything.”
Insurance are expected to stretch their unbeaten streak as they will next play host to struggling El-kanemi Warriors in Benin next week.
