Super Eagles winger Moses Simon displayed his goal-scoring prowess, finding the net for Gent as they secured a 3-1 victory against Mouscron in the Belgian top flight on Friday. The match showcased the talent of Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi, on loan from Liverpool, who scored Mouscron’s sole goal.
Moses Simon opened the scoring for Gent in the 29th minute, putting his team ahead. However, Taiwo Awoniyi swiftly responded, equalizing for Mouscron in the 35th minute. The seesaw battle continued as Yuya Kubo restored Gent’s lead with a goal in the 39th minute. Dylan Bronn sealed the victory for Gent with a goal in the 74th minute.
Simon’s contribution marked his fourth goal in 13 league appearances, while Awoniyi’s goal added to his tally, making it four goals in 14 league games played.
Anderson Esiti and Samuel Kalu also featured for Gent, with Kalu making way for a substitution in the final 15 minutes of the game.
