Nigeria international Moses Simon has expressed strong confidence that the Super Eagles will secure qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, despite a disappointing start to their qualification campaign.
The Super Eagles have earned just three points from four matches in the ongoing qualifiers and currently sit in fifth place in their group. However, Simon remains optimistic about the team’s chances of bouncing back and eventually securing a spot in next year’s World Cup.
In an interview with BBC Sport, the talented winger maintained a positive outlook, citing the return of key players as a crucial factor in turning around the team’s fortunes.
“We have the quality, we have what it takes to win,” Simon said. “We don’t believe that we are not going to the World Cup. The last qualifying games, we missed regular players and I believe they’ll be there next year to help the team.”
Simon’s optimism is shared by many in the Super Eagles camp, who are hoping that the return of injured and absent players will provide the boost needed to challenge for a top spot in the group.
The Super Eagles are set to resume their World Cup qualifiers in March 2025, with the squad eager to put the early setbacks behind them and refocus on their ultimate goal of securing a ticket to the global tournament in 2026.
