Nigeria international Moses Simon played a decisive role in FC Nantes’ 3-0 victory over Montpellier on Saturday, scoring one goal and assisting another to help the club retain its Ligue 1 status on the final day of the 2024/25 season.
Simon opened the scoring in the 8th minute, calmly converting a penalty to give Nantes an early lead. He later provided an assist as the Canaries dominated the match to seal a crucial three points.
The 29-year-old ends the season with an impressive tally of eight goals and 10 assists in 32 league appearances, emerging as one of the club’s standout performers during a turbulent campaign.
The result lifted Nantes to 13th place on the Ligue 1 table, finishing with 36 points from 34 matches—enough to avoid relegation after a tense run-in.
Head coach Antoine Kombouaré praised his squad’s resilience following the match. Simon, who has been instrumental throughout the season, is widely expected to leave the club this summer amid speculation over his future.
