Muhammed Tijani scores on debut for S.K. Sigma in win over Slovan Liberec

By Oluwadamilola Olaleye

Just days after completing a season-long loan move from Slavia Prague, Nigerian forward Muhammed Tijani made an instant impact, scoring on his debut to help S.K. Sigma Olomouc secure a 2-1 home victory over Slovan Liberec.

Tijani, introduced off the bench, wasted no time announcing his arrival—finding the net just three minutes after stepping onto the pitch. His quick reaction and sharp finish opened the scoring and set the tempo for what turned into a tense and hard-fought encounter.

Although Slovan’s Afolabim equalized to bring the match level, Sigma refused to let the game slip. Their relentless pressure was finally rewarded deep into stoppage time as they snatched all three points in dramatic fashion.

Speaking after the match, head coach Tomáš Janotka lauded Tijani’s contribution and physical presence.

“He scored an important goal—even if it wasn’t the winner in the end. We know what we have in him. His figure immediately inspires respect,” Janotka said.

“Thanks to his size, he was able to get in front of the defender beautifully after Hady’s flowing cross and Kača’s easy run. Even though he was closely marked, he showed alertness and had a dream first touch. He even had another shot blocked from a similar position.

“I believe that once he fully adapts to our playing style, he’ll become a very valuable asset for us.”

The performance marks a promising start for the 23-year-old striker, who will now look to build on this momentum as he settles into life at Sigma.
