Nasarawa United are aiming to secure a place in continental competition and mount a serious challenge for the 2026-2027 Euromatch Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title, according to the club’s Director of Communications and Media Publicity, Eche Amos.

Speaking to Arise News in Lafia, Amos said the club’s management was determined to overcome previous setbacks and establish the Solid Miners among the leading sides in Nigerian football.

He credited Governor Abdullahi Sule with providing consistent financial, moral and administrative support, while also highlighting the impact of the club’s recruitment during the summer transfer window.

Amos said the backing from the governor, combined with the strengthening of the squad, had improved Nasarawa United’s ability to compete as they seek to build on last season’s campaign.

The club finished sixth last term with 56 points, missing out on a continental place by four points. Under the leadership of chairman Solomon Babanja, the management has now drawn up a strategic plan aimed at taking the team further in the 2026-2027 season.

Nasarawa United’s early results have included difficulties away from home, but Amos believes the performances have offered encouragement despite the lack of wins on the road.

“Things are changing for the better. I wish to let you know that Nasarawa United, out of eight games, we lost all our games away, we drew only one, but at home, we could draw a couple of games, we won some, but it does not mean we cannot win away from home,” Amos said.

He argued that the team’s performances had often been stronger than the results suggested, pointing to statistics from the matches they lost.

“We have what it takes, even the games we lost away, if we check the statistics, we did better in terms of ball possession, in terms of the charisma, the character, and the characteristics of the team,” he added.

The club’s immediate objective is to make full use of its home advantage while collecting important points in away fixtures. Amos said the team’s strategy was to turn Lafia into a reliable source of victories and improve its record on the road.

“We ensure that we capitalize on our home advantage to win all our home matches and also pick draws where we needed to and we pray to win all our away matches.”

Amos also appealed to Nasarawa United supporters, sports followers and residents of Nasarawa State to give the team their maximum backing throughout what is expected to be a fiercely contested NPFL campaign.
