The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Executive Committee has mandated the Federation’s Secretariat to commit significant effort, strategic thinking, and resources toward securing high-quality international friendly matches for the Senior Women National Team, Super Falcons, during the February 2026 FIFA international window.
The directive forms a key part of Nigeria’s preparations for the 14th Women Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), scheduled to take place in Morocco from March 17 to April 3, 2026.
According to the Executive Committee, the planned friendlies are crucial as the 10-time African champions intensify their bid for a record-extending 11th continental title and a coveted qualification spot for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The Committee emphasized that facing strong international opposition ahead of the tournament will help sharpen the team’s competitiveness and readiness for the challenges of WAFCON.
The decision further highlights the NFF’s commitment to ensuring the Super Falcons receive adequate preparation and support as they aim to reassert their dominance in African women’s football and return to the global stage.
