NFF orders Kano Pillars to pay Akpan Bassey N11m over unlawful contract termination

The Players’ Status Committee of Nigeria Football Federation, (NFF) has directed Kano Pillars FC to pay the sum of N11,800,000 to their former player, Akpan Bassey for breach of contractual agreement.
In a decision reached on Friday on the case between Bassey and Kano Pillars, the NFF has that the club unilaterally terminated Bassey’s contract which contravened Article 14 and Article 17 of FIFA Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players RSTP(2019).
The over #11,000,000 million owed the player will cover for month of November, 2021 and 13 months salaries of the unexpired term of contracts and the Purchase of Paper Fee agreed by the parties as provided in the contract.
The Committee asked that the payment shall be paid to Bassey within 21 days, effective from the date of judgment as failure to comply with the directive will result to further sanctions on Kano Pillars.
Akpan Bassey played for Kano Pillars in the 2020/2021 Nigeria Premier Football League, season.
