NFF receives mid-year football integrity report from Sport Integrity Foundation

By Olaleye Oluwadamilola

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Tuesday received a mid-year independent report on football activities in the country, compiled by the Sport Integrity Foundation.

The report, which focuses on ethics, transparency, and accountability within Nigerian football, was presented to the NFF at its headquarters in Abuja.

In response, NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi (MON), praised the Foundation for its initiative and emphasized the importance of collaboration in safeguarding the integrity of the game.

“We’re very impressed to see such initiative coming from your organisation. The NFF cannot see everything, but having organisations like yours delights us. You are becoming an important eye for the integrity of the game,” Dr. Sanusi said.

He reiterated the Federation’s commitment to upholding ethics and discipline within Nigerian football, stressing that any attempts to undermine the sport’s integrity would be met with appropriate sanctions.

“The NFF board is very committed to ethics and integrity, and we’re doing everything to ensure that anyone trying to bring the game into disrepute will be punished.

“We also need the collaboration of law enforcement agencies so that when we pass resolutions, such individuals can be dealt with within the ambit of the law,” he added.

Dr. Sanusi noted that the initiative aligns with the vision of NFF President Ibrahim Musa Gusau’s administration, which prioritizes transparency and encourages active stakeholder participation in the development of football across the country.

The Sport Integrity Foundation has been involved in monitoring and reporting on governance practices in Nigerian sports, positioning itself as a key player in promoting accountability and good governance in football.
