NFF releases Nigeria squad for 2023 Argentina FIFA U-20 World Cup

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has released the final 21-player list of the national U-20 team for the 2023 FIFA World Cup in Argentina.

Flying Eagles arrived in Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina for a 10-day camping programme ahead of this year’s FIFA U20 World Cup finals last weekend with 20 players and 10 officials.

The final squad comprises three goalkeepers, six defenders, six midfielders, and six attackers.

Chijioke Aniagboso who recently got a class up to the Super Eagles squad leads the goalkeeping trio alongside Nathaniel Nwosu, and Saheed Jimoh.

Captain Daniel Bameyi who got the Super Eagles call-up after his showing at the U-20 AFCON made the list of defenders.

Other defenders include Benjamin Frederick, Israel Domingo, Abel Ogwuche, Augustine Njoku, and Solomon Agbalaka.

Midfielders include Daniel Daga, Samson Lawal, Victor Eletu, Ibrahim Abdullahi, John Joshua, and Tochukwu Nnadi.

The attackers for Argentina 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup is made up of Haliru Sarki, Jude Sunday, Ibrahim Mohammed, Lawal Salem Fago, Kehinde Ibrahim, and Emmanuel Umeh.

Nigeria has been slotted in Group D for this year’s championship and will play Dominican Republic, Italy, and Brazil in that order in the group phase.

Their first two games will hold in Mendoza, in the far west of Argentina, against the Dominican Republic on 21 May and against Italy on 24 May, before they fly to La Plata to play Brazil on 27 May.
