The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) officially inaugurated the newly appointed members of the Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) within the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Wednesday.
This development marks a significant step forward in bolstering transparency and accountability within Nigerian football governance.
At the inauguration ceremony, NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, MON, expressed his satisfaction with the continued partnership between the NFF and ICPC.
He acknowledged the positive impact of the collaboration in improving internal processes, strengthening record-keeping, and ensuring due process across the federation’s operations.
“People must understand the work of ACTU; it is about ensuring that the right things are done to avoid investigations and potential indictments.
“We are happy to have you in our midst, and we assure you of our maximum cooperation,” Dr. Sanusi said.
ICPC Chairman, Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN, also expressed gratitude to Dr. Sanusi and the NFF management for their role in facilitating the smooth induction of the ACTU members.
“I would like to congratulate the new members on being selected for this critical responsibility. I encourage you to approach your duties with the utmost diligence, integrity, and professionalism,” Dr. Aliyu stated.
“Refrain from any actions that could compromise your position in the strategic role entrusted to you.”
Dr. Aliyu underscored the importance of the collaboration between the ICPC and the NFF, stressing that their continued partnership is crucial in promoting integrity and fostering a culture of accountability within the Nigerian football ecosystem.
The induction of ACTU members further strengthens the NFF’s commitment to ensuring a corruption-free environment in Nigerian football, and signals a renewed effort to prioritize transparency and ethical governance at all levels of the sport.
