Nigeria announce final squad for maiden WAFU-B U20 Women’s Cup in Ghana

Nigeria U20 head coach, Christopher Danjuma has picked the 20 players squad to represent the country in the maiden edition of the West Africa Football Union zone B U20 Women’s Cup taking place in Kumasi, Ghana.
Midfield maestro Taiwo Afolabi, Shukura Oladipo, Esther Onyenezide, and Flourish Sebastine top the list of the selected players for the regional youth women’s football tournament.
Five players from the U17 FIFA Women’s World Cup bronze winning Flamingos team Omowunmi Bello, Comfort Folorunsho, Afolabi, Opeyemi Ajakaye and Blessing Emmanuel made the cut for the Wafu-B tournament.
After leading the Falconets to the quarterfinal finish of the U20 FIFA Women’s World Cup last year, Danjuma has named a strong squad that’s capable of winning the Wafu B U20 tournament.
The African Games winners are grouped in group B alongside Burkina Faso, Niger Republic and Togo. The Nigeria side will start their campaign at the Wafu B with a tie against Niger Republic on the 21st of May.
The Falconets will trade tackles with Togo on the 24th of May at the Baba Yara stadium before rounding up the group stage with a clash with Burkina Faso on May 28 at the Paa Joe Stadium, Kumasi.
The Wafu B U20 tournament have been scheduled to kickoff on the 20th of May and will end on the fourth of June.

Goalkeepers: Inyene Etim, Shukura Bakare, and Chinyere Mgbechi.
Defenders: Jumoke Alani, Oluchi Ohaegbulem, Chidinma Ogbuchi, Comfort Folorunsho, Blessing Okpe, and Monica Ameh.
Midfielders: Taiwo Afolabi, Chioma Olise, Chinyere Kalu, Esther Onyenezide, and Blessing Emmanuel.
Forwards: Shukurat Oladipo, Goodness Osigwe, Flourish Sebastine, Omowunmi Bello, Opeyemi Ajakaye and Judith Okah.
