Nigeria captain, Ahmed Musa has revealed his intention to retire from the Nigeria Premier Football League.
The 31-year-old said this during a conversation on X, where he stated that he would one day return to the NPFL and play for a long time before he retires.
The former Leicester City star was a crucial player in Kano Pillars’ 2009/10 NPFL title-winning season, where he emerged as the top scorer in the League.
After spending a decade playing in Europe and Asia, the Super Eagles returned home to boost the domestic league in 2020.
Although, Musa would not be the first Nigerian player to retire in the NPFL after playing several years abroad as the likes of Rashidi Yekini, Garba Lawal, and Daniel Amokachi, all retired at home.
“I will always talk about the Nigerian League because I was once their product,” Musa stated on X.
“And that placed me where I am today, and till tomorrow, anytime I am going to stop football, I am going to come to Nigeria again and play in the Nigerian League.
“But this time, I am going to stay for a long time and play. To show you the love I have for the Nigerian League.”
