Nigeria Crash Out Despite Win Over Benin in African Schools U15 Championship

Nigeria’s U15 boys have been eliminated from the CAF African Schools Football Championship (WAFU-B Qualifiers) in Ouagadougou, despite securing a 1–0 victory over Benin Republic on Monday.
Ayomide Adeleke of Ekiti Parapo College, Ido-Ekiti, scored the decisive goal in the 19th minute, giving Nigeria a lifeline after their opening-day setback. The youngster’s composed finish briefly revived hopes of progressing to the semifinals.
However, the final Group standings worked against the Nigerian side. All three teams—Ivory Coast, Benin and Nigeria, finished on three points, but goal difference proved decisive.
Ivory Coast topped the group with a +2 margin, Benin followed with 0, while Nigeria’s –2 deficit condemned them to third place and an early exit.
The result means Ivory Coast and Benin advance to the semifinals, ending Nigeria’s adventure in the regional qualifiers earlier than anticipated.
