By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

After the Club confirmed Favour Emmanuel and Chiamaka Okwuchukwu to be part of San Diego Wave’s roster for the 2025 National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) season, the duo’s jersey number was revealed on Thursday.

Midfielder, Favour will put on jersey number 8 during the 2025 NWSL season.

Her compatriot, Okwuchukwu settled for jersey number 24 as both players prepare for their NWSL debut this weekend.

The duo played former Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership teams, Bayelsa Queens for Favour and Rivers Angels for Okwuchukwu before moving abroad.

Okwuchukwu moved to San Diego Wave from the Jewels of Rivers and the team is her first ever foreign Club.

Favour, on the other hand, has played for the Russian side, Lokomotiv Moscow, before switching to San Diego Wave ahead of the 2025 season.

San Diego Wave will face Angel City FC in an expected tight contest on Sunday.

They have won two of the six meetings with their opponents with a draw while Angel City FC have won the other three matches.
