Nigeria-eligible Edna Imade inspires Cacereno to victory against Córdoba CF

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde
Top prospect for Spanish second-tier Primera Federacion Women top goal scorer, Edna Imade had a crucial assist in helping Cacereno to a 1-0 win over Córdoba CF on Saturday.
Two teams with very different dynamics and different goals arrived the match at the Manuel Sánchez Delgado in Cáceres.
CP Cacereño in second position on the log ahead of the game was looking for a victory that would make it momentarily to the top of the table.
On the other hand, Córdoba CF, with a squad and a way of playing that differs greatly from their bottom-of-the-table placement, looked for the three points to move away from the danger of relegation.
The first half began and passed like a game of chess, with more strategy than risk. The host dominated possession, but neither team created a clear danger over the rival goals.
After the first half, Cacereno timidly warned with chances from Tania and Edna Imade before the lone goal of the game which finally arrived after half an hour of play as Edna Imade goal-ward attempt from the left wing located Manoly Baquerizo who put the ball into the back of the net.
Cacereno warned again with a double chance, but it did not end in a goal.
The second half did not differ much from the first, being very even but with the host closer to widening the difference in the score than to being tied by the Cordoba, who even with the changes did not have the opportunity to surpass one of the defenses most impregnable in the league.
With this result, Ernesto Sánchez’s men are momentarily at the top of the table, waiting for what SD Eibar does on Sunday.
For their part, the Cordoba team will have to wait for a defeat by AEM (which is precisely facing SD Eibar) to avoid entering the relegation zone.
Nigeria-eligible Imade has scored five goals this season for Cacereno and will be hoping to finish the league as the top goal scorer as she currently occupy that spot alongside DUX Logrono’s Paula.
