Nigeria defender Ola Aina has pledged to return stronger following a successful surgery on the hamstring injury he sustained while on international duty with Nigeria.
The Nottingham Forest right-back suffered the setback in last week’s World Cup qualifying clash against South Africa and subsequently underwent surgery on Tuesday.
Forest have since confirmed that the 28-year-old will be sidelined for around three months.
Despite the lengthy layoff, Aina remains upbeat about his recovery and expressed determination to make a swift comeback.
“I will be working hard every day to get back out there as soon as possible,” Aina wrote on Instagram.
“I can’t wait to get back on the pitch at the City Ground. See you soon.”
The timeline for his recovery raises doubts over his participation in the opening months of Nottingham Forest’s campaign, while the Super Eagles will be hopeful he regains full fitness in time for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco this December.
