Nigeria Star Taiwo Lawal Officially Joins Mexican Club Mazatlán

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Nigerian international forward Taiwo Lawal has officially signed with Mexican side Mazatlán FC Women, marking a major step in her flourishing football career.

Lawal joins from Turkish outfit Ünye Kadın Spor Kulübü for an undisclosed fee.

The move comes after two impressive seasons in Turkey, where Lawal netted over 25 goals and contributed numerous assists, establishing herself as one of the league’s standout performers.

Her combination of clinical finishing, physical strength, and blistering pace made her a consistent threat in the final third — attributes Mazatlán hopes will bolster their attacking line.

Mazatlán FC, founded in June 2020, has steadily held its ground in the Liga MX Femenil.

The club is aiming to climb higher in the league standings, and the addition of the prolific Nigerian striker signals their intent to push for silverware in the upcoming season.

Lawal’s arrival is expected to inject firepower and experience into the squad, as the club looks to mount a strong challenge for the Liga MX Femenil title.
