Nigeria striker Chinwendu Ihezuo joins Mexican side Rayadas Monterrey

Mexican Liga MX side Rayadas Monterrey have completed the signing of Chinwendu Ihezuo on a two-year deal, NigeriaFootball.ng can exclusively report.

Ihezuo joined the Mexican giants from Chinese side Meizhou Hakka for the 2023 season for an undisclosed fee.
On Thursday, Monterrey took to social media to announce the Nigerian as their first reinforcement for 2023. The Super Falcons star will fill the void created by the departure of Colombia’s Tisabella Echeverri, as a foreign player.
“Chinwendu Ihezuo will be the new Rayadas reinforcement for this 2023 clause. Will take the place of Echeverri,” the Mexican club announced on social media.
The 25 year old goal poacher started her professional career with Pelican Stars before moving to Delta Queens in 2014.
She made her foray into Europe in Kazakhstan in 2016 and enjoyed wonderful stint with the Kazakhstan champions with BIIK Kazygurt scoring 16 goals in 20 appearances, including in the Uefa Women’s Champions League.

After four years in China, Ihezuo’s move to Mexico sees her becomes the second Nigerian to sign for a Mexican outfit since 2021 following in the foot step of compatriot Uchenna Kanu, who suits up for Tigres.

Monterrey are currently sit atop of Mexican Liga MX with nine points from three games and will take on Leon in their next encounter on Sunday, January 29.

Following her title-winning feat with Nigeria at the 2018 African Women’s Cup of Nations in Ghana, who was absent from Nigeria’s campaign in Morocco, is expected to team up with national team ahead of the Women’s World Cup.
