Nigeria international, Victor Osimhen has joined the Centurion club after finding the back of the net in Napoli’s 2-0 victory over Sassuolo.
Napoli returned to the Diego Armando Maradona stadium for the first time since last season as they continued their title defense charge in winning fashion.
Osimhen has proven to be an important player for Napoli in the last two seasons. He was key in the run-up to their Scudetto triumph last season, scoring 26 goals in 31 Serie A appearances for the Partenopeans.
Last season’s Golden Boot winner, Osimhen opened the scoring from the spot kick after VAR reviewed a foul on Mateo Politano in the opponent’s box.
The Super Eagles star stepped up and made no mistake firing past Andrea Consigli in the 16th minute. He began the season in style, scoring twice in their league opener against newly-promoted Frosinone.
The 24-year-old has now scored three goals in two matches this season, with the 62nd minute strike for Napoli his 100th club career goal at the top-flight level.
He could have added another in the second half of the match when another penalty was awarded but instead, he allowed Giacomo Raspadori to take it, but the striker fired over the goal against his former team.
However, Kvaratskhelia came on in the 61st minute and immediately set up Lorenzo in the 64th to double Napoli’s advantage to seal the win.
Osimhen’s goals breakdown according to TransferMarkt, the 24-year-old scored 20 goals in 36 games for Charleroi, then went on to score 18 in 38 for Lille, and has poached 62 for Napoli since joining the side taking his tally to 100.
