Nigeria to camp in Argentina for FIFA U20 World Cup after botched Spain tour

Nigeria’s U20 men national team have been confirmed to use Argentina as their final training camp ahead of the 2023 FIFA U20 World Cup.

This is coming on the back change in plans by the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF choosing Spain as the country earlier proposed for the camping exercise was shelved.

An inside sources of the federation told nigeriafootball.ng that the Spain tour was called off because of logistical challenges as well as the short time to put it together.

The Flying Eagles as the national U20 team are called will now enjoy an extended stay in Argentina as a result of long travel hours to South American country and much time to acclimatize with the environment ahead of the May 20 kickoff date.

The Coach Ladan Bosso led boys are expected to depart Nigeria for Argentina by first week of May as it remain uncertain whether they will leave with the full squad or the selected 21 players for the tournament proper.

The Flying Eagles will open their U20 World Cup campaign on May 21 in Mendoza against Dominican Republic.

Five-time champions Brazil and Italy are also in the same group with Nigeria.
