Nigeria U20W 7-0 Niger U20W: Opeyemi Ajakaye leads Falconets to ruthless start

Nigeria U20 women’s team crushed Niger Republic 7-0 to get on to a winning start in the WAFU-B Women’s U20 Cup at Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday.
The Falconets were ruthless in front of goal and showed their opponents no mercy as Opeyemi Ajakaye treble and a goal each from Chinyere Kalu, Adaobi Okah, Jumoke Alani and Chioma Olise hammered their Nigerien rivals.
Ajakaye lashed on a through ball from Esther Onyenezide to open the scoring for the Falconets in the fourth minute before the former tapped into the back of the net her second from close range seven minutes later.
In the 30th minute, Kalu scored a screamer from about 25 yards to put the Falconets in a commanding position before the half time.
After the restart, Adaobi Okah extended the Falconets lead to four from the penalty spot four minutes into the second half.
Ajakaye continued her ruthless form in front of goal as she bagged her hat-trick in the 53rd minute before Edo Queens fullback, Alani fired home from the edge of the 18-yard box following a howler from the Nigerien goalkeeper.
The Falconets were still not done yet as Chioma Olise notched the seventh goal for Nigeria on the brink of regulation time.
Nigeria will trade tackle with Togo on May 24 in their next game at the Baba Yara Stadium and will face Burkina Faso on May 28 in their last group game at the Paa Joe Stadium.
