Nigeria’s senior women’s national team secured a convincing 4-1 victory over Algeria in their second friendly match at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan, Lagos, on Tuesday.

Under the guidance of coach Justine Madugu, the Super Falcons had previously won 2-0 against Algeria at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne-Remo, Ogun State, on Saturday.

Four goals from players connected to FC Robo Queens ensured a dominant performance for Nigeria. Folashade Ijamilusi opened the scoring in the 10th minute and quickly doubled the lead just eight minutes later.

Algeria had an opportunity to close the gap in the 37th minute, but Lina Boussaha’s penalty was missed. Shortly after, Ouassila Alouache scored for Algeria, pulling one back in the 41st minute.

In the additional minutes of the first half, former FC Robo Queens player Gift Monday extended Nigeria’s lead with a header. Ijamilusi completed her hat trick in the 86th minute, solidifying the win.

Both teams are using these matches to prepare for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) scheduled for next year.
