Nigerian Defender Elderson Echiejile Joins Cercle Brugge in Belgium

Nigerian international left-back, Elderson Echiejile, has made a move to Belgian First Division B club Cercle Brugge until the culmination of the current season. This transition follows the cancellation of his contract with Turkish side Sivasspor, as confirmed by Completesportsnigeria.com (CSN).
Cercle Brugge, currently leading the Belgian First Division B second stage with 23 points from 10 games, is owned by French football giants AS Monaco, the parent club of Echiejile. The Super Eagles regular had joined Sivasspor on a season-long loan from AS Monaco last summer but had limited appearances, featuring in 10 games across various competitions during the initial half of the season.
Echiejile’s return to Belgian football marks a homecoming of sorts, as he had previously played in the country during the 2016 season while on loan from AS Monaco to Standard Liege. With a successful medical at Cercle Brugge, the 30-year-old defender is set to be unveiled before the closure of the Belgian transfer window on Wednesday night, as per CSN reports.
The experienced left-back brings a wealth of footballing experience to Cercle Brugge, having also plied his trade at notable clubs such as Stade Rennes and SC Braga. As the club strives for success in the Belgian First Division B, Echiejile’s addition is anticipated to fortify their defensive capabilities.
