Nigerian trio fail to rescue Al Daklyeh from disappointing home loss to Future FC
By Wale Mustapha
Al Daklyeh bowed to a 1-0 defeat at home against Future FC in the Egyptian Premier League encounter amidst on-field drama on Thursday.
The tension soaked match marred by series of unsportsmanlike incidents ended in the favor of the visitors thanks to a late solitary effort of Cameroonian forward Jonathan Ngwem.
Unfortunately, three Nigerian players – Kelechi Chimezie, Rasheed Ahmed and John Christopher were involved in the match for the hosts but could not rescue their side the disappointing home loss.
It was Al Daklyeh who had their first player sent off in the opening five minutes of the game when Barakat Haggag went too hard on Future FC striker.
Haggag’s explusion weakened Al Daklyeh, whose woes were further compounded when a marching order was handed Abdelaziz El Sayed just eleven minutes into the second half, seeing them reduced to nine men.
However, Future suffered their own low moment with the sending off of Karem Nedved in the 78th minute but it was not enough to deny the visitors the three points as Ngwem struck late to guarantee the victory.
For the Nigerian trio, both Christopher and Ahmed were later withdrawn from the match but Kelechi see out the entire duration of the defeat of their home side.
The defeat left Al Daklyeh in bottom of the log with a point from four games played while Future FC used the win to jump to second place, same points (10) with leaders Ghazl El Mahallah.
