Nigeria’s Alloy Agu urges Super Eagles to secure Morocco Afcon 2025 qualification

By Saheed Afolabi

Former Nigerian international Alloy Agu has called on the national team to secure their place in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) next year in Morocco.

The Super Eagles are set to compete against Benin Republic, Rwanda, and Libya for a spot in the tournament, which will be held in North African soil.

Agu believes the Super Eagles have a strong chance of qualifying, despite the challenges posed by the other teams in Group D, emphasizing the importance of not underestimating any opponent, notably Benin Republic and Rwanda, given their ties in the World Cup qualifiers.

“On paper, the group looks very fair to the Super Eagles, but football is always played on the pitch and not by mouth. I am confident the Super Eagles will qualify for AFCON 2025,” Agu told Complete Sports.

“Yes, Benin and Rwanda are two teams Nigeria is battling with in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, and we have seen the result against Benin. However, the Super Eagles must approach the game well and not underestimate any team in Group D.”

The Super Eagles will commence their campaign for the 2025 AFCON in September.
