Nigerian winger Sodiq Awujoola has become a part of African football history after helping Pyramids FC claim their first-ever CAF Champions League title.
On loan from Ceramica Cleopatra, Awujoola played a key role in the Egyptian club’s victorious campaign, making five appearances, scoring one goal, and providing two assists.
His contributions were instrumental as Pyramids FC defeated South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns 3–2 on aggregate in the two-legged final.
The Cairo-based side sealed the title with a 2–1 win in the second leg on Saturday, following a 1–1 draw in the first encounter.
Awujoola’s impact throughout the tournament highlighted his growth and potential on the continental stage.
Born in Saki, Nigeria, and a former player for Shooting Stars SC of Ibadan, Awujoola’s journey from local leagues to continental glory marks a significant milestone for the young winger and a proud moment for Nigerian football.
