NNL: Shola Adegun labels Sporting Lagos’ first round performance as disappointing

By Wale Mustapha

Sporting Lagos head coach, Shola Adegun, has expressed disappointment with his team’s performance in the first round of the Nigeria National League (NNL) season.

The Noisy Lagosians, who were relegated from the Nigerian top-flight last season, managed to secure four wins, two draws, and four defeats in the first stanza, placing them fifth on the table.

Despite the underwhelming first half of the season, Adegun remains hopeful that the team can fight for promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

“The season is a bit disappointing so far; we are not where we ought to be,” Adegun stated.

“We want to be in the promotion spots, but so far, we are in mid-table, which puts us in a delicate situation.”

“Our goals remain the same. Honestly, we have to try and get back to the elite division,” Adegun added in an interview with Sporting Lagos media.

“As long as it is still mathematically possible, we have to give everything we have to try and achieve that goal.”
