“No hiding place for Lobi Stars in Minna”- Niger Tornadoes’ Papa Daniel talks tough

By Wale Mustapha
Niger Tornadoes’ midfielder, Papa Daniel, has declared that there will be “no hiding place” for Lobi Stars when the two teams face off in a crucial North Central showdown on Sunday.
The Ikon Allah Boys will host their Makurdi-based counterparts at the Bako Kontagora Stadium in Minna for Matchday Six of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL). The game will mark a pivotal encounter, with both sides aiming to make their mark in the ongoing campaign.
The clash will also see Daniel Amokachi take charge of Lobi Stars as their new Technical Adviser, while Tornadoes will be hoping to secure their first home win of the season, having drawn their previous two home matches.
A confident Papa Daniel expressed that Niger Tornadoes are determined to end their winless home streak, saying, “We want to give our fans something to cheer about. It’s high time we break the jinx.”
Daniel revealed that the team has been in intensive training, working hard to secure a positive result for their passionate supporters.
“We have had talks as a team, both within ourselves and with the technical crew, on how important a win is for the team this weekend,” Daniel said. “We have resolved to go all out for the maximum points.”
The 2023/24 NPFL season has been challenging for the Tornadoes, who have picked up 8 points from 5 matches — with two away wins, one defeat, and two home draws. Daniel knows how much the fans are waiting for a home victory and believes this match is the perfect opportunity to deliver.
“We know how it feels for the fans not to have experienced a home victory yet after a long while, but they should not fret,” Daniel added. “All we expect is their maximum support from the beginning of the match till the end.”
With both teams eager for three points, Sunday’s encounter in Minna promises to be an intense battle as the Tornadoes aim to continue their quest for success in the NPFL.
