‘No player is indispensable in Super Falcons’ – Rasheedat Ajibade

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Nigeria’s senior women’s national team captain, Rasheedat Ajibade says every player of the Super Falcons is important in their quest to win the 10th African title.

The former Avaldnes player scored two goals, rising to the occasion against Cameroon in a friendly match at MKO Abiola Sports Complex, Abeokuta, on Tuesday.

While responding to journalists during post-match press conferences, “the girl with blue hair” opined that any player can rise to the occasion by taking chances when they come momentarily.

“We are positive and excited. Looking forward to the tournament to give our best,” She said.

“The Super Falcons is a very big and talented squad. No one is indispensable. Football is all about moments. When you have the opportunity to rise to the occasion, any player that is being invited will also rise up to that standard. When we have the opportunity, we just take it.

“Right now in camp, the mood is positive with responsibilities that lie ahead of us. As players, it is upon us to play for the nation.”

The Super Falcons hope to win their 10th African title in Morocco this year with the mantra of “Mission X”.

Ajibade thinks this is possible with hard work and playing with instructions.

“Mission X is possible but we also have to be mindful that it is an objective that all nations are also eyeing. We will do our best to play according to the coach’s instructions to achieve this great objective, which is Mission X.” She concluded.
