‘Nothing has been done’ – Sunshine Stars’ Edith Agoye lash out at Shooting Stars

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde
Sunshine Stars coach Edith Agoye has lamented the treatment meted on him by his former club Shooting Stars.
Agoye served as an assistant coach and later head coach with 3SC during his nine-year stint before parting ways with the Oluyole Warriors in August 2022. During his spell, the management through its chairman Hon. Babatunde Olaniyan had promised a United Kingdom trip for a higher coaching course, with Oyo State Government backing.
With promises yet to be fulfilled, the manager, who joined the Akure Gunners has cried out of the unfulfilled pledge by his former employers.
“When I was about to leave my position at the club, the club chairman and commissioner for Youth and Sports promised to send me for UEFA B license in Europe and all the money I was owed over nine years will be paid,” Agoye told Fresh FM, Ibadan.
“I can tell you, as of this morning, nothing has been done. The worst thing is that I kept on calling the Chairman and has not pick up. Also, he refused to reply to my messages. It is unbelievable that they can treat me like this after all I’ve done for the club but I know one day I will get my money because I worked for it.”
At Shooting Stars, Agoye guided the team back to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) in the 2020/2021 season and helped them narrowly escape relegation last term with 48 points after 38 games.
