NPFL: Akwa United have a mission to accomplish in Benin – Deji Ayeni

Akwa United coach, Deji Ayeni says the club is in Benin for a mission to accomplish when they take on Bendel Insurance in the Nigeria Premier Football League encounter at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.

Bendel Insurance had stunned the Promise Keepers 2-0 to draw the first blood of the meeting in Uyo and are still unbeaten after 10 matches – a superb form Ayeni’s side are eager to bring to an end on Wednesday.

And the Akwa United tactician hailed the good run of Insurance but insists they are capable claiming the three points in the reverse fixture in Benin City.

“Wednesday presents us with another opportunity to continue our push for a playoff spot which is our first target this season, so I can boldly say that we are in Benin on a mission,” Ayeni told media.

“There is no doubt that Bendel Insurance is enjoying a good run of form. They came to Uyo and got all three points on the opening day, and we are in Benin to recover the points we lost at home.

“Bendel Insurance are unbeaten after ten matches and that is why they are top of the log but as a coach, I know that every team in this League is beatable, including Bendel Insurance so our mission in Benin is to fight for all three points.”

The Promise Keepers are second on the NPFL abridged group A with 18 points from ten matches and a win for them will reduce the point gap at the top of the table to three points.
