NPFL: All 20 teams will take part in matchday one fixtures – IMC reassures

To douse the perceived doubt surrounding the purported boycott by the club owners, the NPFL Interim Management Committee (IMC) reiterated that all teams will take part in the match day one fixtures on January 8, 2023.
The 2022/2023 NPFL abridged format of two groups consisting of ten teams each in order for the league body to meet up with CAF deadline of submitting teams that will take part in the CAF club continental competitions.
Confidently maintaining the IMC earlier stance of the league starting on the 8th of January 2023, a trusted source within the IMC hierarchy is confident the league will start at the fixed date across different centers in the country.
 “Everything in top gear for the season kickoff and we’re quite optimistic that all 20 teams will take part in the Matchday 1 fixtures.”
Lobi Stars of Makurdi will be going to the Lions den as they engage the NPFL champions Rivers United in Port-Harcourt.
The IMC announced a hundred million naira as the prize money for the winners of the league this season and also secured a mouthwatering ten billion naira sponsorship deal from GTI Group for the NPFL, which the sponsorship deal is expected to span for ten years.
