NPFL: Daniel Amokachi reflects on Lobi Stars poor form

By Saheed Afolabi
Daniel Amokachi, the head coach of Lobi Stars, has expressed concern over the team’s poor performance in the Nigeria Premier Football League, where they currently sit at the bottom of the league with just one win in eight matches.
Following a 4-2 defeat to Ikorodu City, Amokachi reflected on the challenges he faces, emphasizing the need for patience as he works to establish the right combinations within the squad.
Amokachi acknowledged that he has only been with the team for two weeks, conducting just four training sessions before three consecutive matches.
Despite the struggles, he remains optimistic about the talent within the squad, stating, “The good things are there, things that we need to work on… You can see that there’s quality in the team.”
He defended the inclusion of experienced players, arguing that a balance between youth and experience is crucial for success.
“We cannot have youthful players throughout your team,” he said. “With those experiences, we know what we need to come into play.” He believes that the team’s current mix will help them navigate the long season ahead.
Amokachi also pointed out that recognizing the team’s flaws is vital for improvement. “If you have a team that knows its flaws, it’s easy to work on,” he explained, highlighting the positive reactions from players during halftime discussions.
Lobi Stars will look to turn their fortunes around in their next match against Bayelsa United at the Lafia Township Stadium on October 26.
