NPFL: Daniel Ogunmodede blames ill-luck on Remo Stars defeat at Rangers

By Wale Mustapha

Remo Stars’ Technical Adviser, Daniel Ogunmodede, has described his side as “unlucky” following their 2-1 defeat to Enugu Rangers on Sunday in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

The Sky Blues Stars were beaten in the Matchday 24 encounter at the Nnamdi Azikwe Stadium, Enugu, despite creating several opportunities.

Rangers, the reigning NPFL champions, took the lead with goals from Isaac Savior and Kingsley Maduforo. Remo Stars pulled one back late in the game through Sikiru Alimi, but it wasn’t enough to avoid defeat.

Ogunmodede was disappointed with the result, acknowledging that his team had missed key chances that could have changed the outcome of the match.

“We had our fair share of chances but didn’t take them. They took theirs in the first half through a wonderful free-kick from (Isaac) Saviour,” Ogunmodede told mdia after the match.

“And just when we were trying to settle down in the second half, they got their second goal, which gave them a lot of confidence and helped them secure the game.”

Despite the setback, Ogunmodede remains optimistic about his side’s season. “We had hoped to come here and win, but unfortunately, we weren’t lucky enough, and we lost,” he added.

Remo Stars still remain at the top of the NPFL standings with 48 points from 24 games. They will look to bounce back when they host Kwara United in their next fixture in Ikenne.
