NPFL: Evans Ogenyi joins Rivers United as head coach

Evans Ogenyi has joined Rivers United as Head Coach ahead of the new Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL season.
Ogenyi will be coming to replace Fatai Osho who left for Akwa United at the end of last season as the Benue born tactician is a familiar face in the Nigerian top-flight, having coached big clubs, including Lobi Stars and Warri Wolves.
He was instrumental to Kano Pillars’ return to NPFL as he tinkered the team in the 2022/2023 Nigeria National League season.
Rivers United announced Ogenyi’s appointment on Tuesday via their social media pages as it read “We’re delighted to announce Evans Ogenyi has joined the club as our Chief Coach.
”Ogenyi once managed Warri Wolves, Lobi Stars and most recently Kano Pillars who he guided back to the NPFL.”
Ogenyi who expressed delight to be working with another top club in Nigeria league stated that he was convinced of a perfect working relationship and conducive atmosphere by Technical Director, Stanley Eguma.
“After speaking with Coach Stanley Eguma, it was a really easy decision to join the coaching set-up here,” Evans said.
“It’s an exciting time to become part of this great team and I’m looking forward to working with everyone more closely on and off the pitch. I love this club and it’s such a great feeling to be here,” he concluded.
Rivers United will be campaigning in the CAF Confederation Cup this campaign as they will also work to wrestle the league title from Enyimba FC eh dethroned them last season.
