NPFL: Greg Ikhenoba blames Bendel Insurance’s loss to Abia Warriors on wastefulness

By Wale Mustapha

Insurance FC Technical Adviser, Greg Ikhenoba, has attributed his side’s 1-0 loss to Abia Warriors to profligacy in front of goal and a lapse in concentration.

The Benin Arsenals suffered the defeat in their Matchday 29 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) encounter in Umuahia on Sunday, with Sunday Megwo’s well-taken header in the second half proving to be the match-winner for the ‘Umu Chineke’ side.

A disappointed Ikhenoba pointed out his team’s inability to convert chances and the failure to stay focused at a crucial moment as key factors in the loss.

“Of course, football is all about give and take. When you have chances, you take them. If you don’t take your chances, you get punished,” Ikhenoba said.

He continued, “That’s always the situation. And if you don’t focus and concentrate on your defensive formation, you’ll be punished.

“That was exactly what you saw happen to us today. We had chances, to be honest, and we couldn’t take them. But we’ll keep working on that.”

Despite the setback, Ikhenoba remains committed to improving his team’s performance in future matches.
