NPFL: Ikorodu City sign new goalkeeper James Faith ahead of season opener

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Newly promoted Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) outfit, Ikorodu City have completed the signing of goalkeeper James Faith from Inter Lagos.

Faith was in goal when Ikorodu City and Inter Lagos faced off five times in three competitions in the previous Nigeria National League (NNL) 2023/2024 season.

The goalkeeper also proved to be the stumbling block when both teams met in the Round of 16 of the President Federation Cup at the Akure Township Stadium, pulling saves to deny Ikorodu City in regulation time and also saving a penalty in the shootout to knockout the Oga Boys.

James Faith has signed a two year deal with Ikorodu City and will be a part of the club’s debut season in the country’s top flight league.

Ikorodu City will start their maiden campaign in the NPFL against Kano Pillars on Sunday, September 8, 2024.

They gained promotion to the top flight at the end of the 2024 NNL Super 8. Joining them in the top flight are Nasarawa United and El-Kanemi Warriors.

Beyond Limits Football Academy which won the NNL title relinquished their promotion ticket to Hearland FC due dual interest as stipulated in the league Framework and Rules.
