NPFL: Kennedy Boboye fires warning at underperforming Heartland playersÂ

By Wale Mustapha
Newly appointed Technical Adviser of Heartland FC, Kennedy Boboye has warned the only players with exceptional commitment will represent the club subsequently.
Heartland have had a dismal start to the 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL season as they are still searching for their first win of the campaign after 10 games.
Boboye was brought in on rescue mission to turn the Naze Millionaires’ season around but didn’t start well for the former Abia Warriors’ gaffer as he led the team to 1-0 home loss to Enyimba in Owerri last time out.
Despite the setback, the former Plateau United man feels the team can get even better in subsequent games.
“We have been working hard since after then with the determination to get a positive result in Ibadan against Shooting Stars,” Boboye told NigeriaFootball.ng.
“With what I have seen of the players since I came in, I think there is room for improvement and we shall keep on working hard. No player has a guaranteed shirt. You must work hard to earn it.”
Boboye lamented the painful loss at home to Enyimba but insists lessons have been learnt from the loss, stressing the resolve of his players to turn the corner against Shooting Stars on Sunday.
“The training sessions have been okay and the players have been responding positively. They are not bad players but I think they have been running out of luck.”
Speaking ahead of his team’s trip to Ibadan, Boboye said the team has what it takes to cause an upset.
“Just like we lost at home to Enyimba, it is possible we go to Ibadan and also surprise our host. We are playing the game with great amount of seriousness.
“I am not under pressure but I want to make sure the players are ready for the game. The game may be the turning point for us,” enthused Boboye.
