Nigeria Football Federation technical director Austine Eguavoen has revealed that he was impressed with the pool of talents competing in the Nigeria Premier Football League and PFL LaLiga U-15 Promises.
Eguavoen was in attendance for the two semifinal matches at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne on Tuesday as Plateau United’s Mees Palace and Beyond Limits of Remo Stars booked the tickets to 2023 final.
The first semifinal match if the day saw Mees defeated Sunshine Stars 2-1 while Beyond Limits were too good for their counterparts El Kanemi Warriors following a 4-2 victory in the second semifinal of the day.
Eguavoen, who managed the Super Eagles at the last AFCON in Cameroon, witnessed all the actions and goals and couldn’t hide his excitement afterwards.
“I will say I am very impressed likewise every person here,” the former Super Eagles boss told media.
“I was seated up there with a couple of football enthusiasts, especially the proprietor of Remo Stars Honorable Soname and of course Paul Aigbogun. We were analysing the games, I think I have missed from day one.
“So, from what I saw today and the four semifinalists, I think the two teams (Plateau and Remo) that went through deserved to go through.
“But having said that, the game wasn’t that bad. I would say kudos also to El Kanemi (Warriors) because they pushed Remo to the limit and the earlier game as well was quite interesting.
“From what I have seen so far here, I think the future is very bright for the kids but the most important thing I saw was that they look very young which means they are truly under-15s. So, there is a bright future for them. I am quite impressed.”
