NPFL: Lobi Stars set for Aper Aku stadium return

By Saheed Afolabi
Lobi Stars are poised to return to their traditional home ground, the Aper Aku Stadium in Makurdi, for the upcoming Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
Last season, the Makurdi-based club played all their league matches at the Lafia Sports Complex due to ongoing reconstruction at the Aper Aku Stadium.
The return to their home ground is set to commence with their league opener against Akwa United on August 31st. Lobi Stars, known as the Hawks of Makurdi, finished sixth in the previous season with 58 points from 38 matches, missing out on continental football.
The Aper Aku Stadium, with a capacity of eight thousand, holds historical significance as it hosted the Nigeria Federation Cup final in 2007.
Lobi Stars’ last NPFL title triumph dates back to 1999, and their return to Aper Aku Stadium marks a significant milestone for the club and its supporters as they aim to compete strongly in the upcoming season.
