NPFL Matchday 10 Round-Up: Abia Warriors rise to second after Barau win

Abia Warriors climbed to second place on the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) table following a 2-0 victory over Barau FC on Matchday 10.
Goals in each half from Chukwuemeka Obioma and Sunday Megwo earned the Umuahia-based side all three points.
In the South-South derby, Warri Wolves continued their fine form with a 2-0 triumph over Bayelsa United, thanks to a brace from Igbunu Evwierhurhoma, which lifted them to fourth place.
Wikki Tourists ended Shooting Stars Sports Club’s (3SC) unbeaten run after securing a 2-0 win in Bauchi. Abdullahi Usman and Jonathan Mairiga were on target for the hosts.
In Jos, Plateau United edged Enyimba FC 2-1, with Monday Gideon netting twice, while Jonathan Jacob grabbed a consolation for the People’s Elephant.
Elsewhere, Kun Khalifa FC and Bendel Insurance played out a 1-1 draw, while Rangers International FC were held to a goalless draw by Kwara United in Enugu.
Earlier on Saturday, Niger Tornadoes stunned Kano Pillars 2-0 away from home courtesy of goals from Abdulrasheed Dabai and Terdoo Shagande.
The Matchday 10 action kicked off on Friday, with Auwal Sadiq Abubakar’s seventh-minute strike earning Katsina United a 1-0 win over El Kanemi Warriors.
After nine games, Nasarawa United remain top of the table with 19 points, one ahead of Abia Warriors, who have played one game more. Niger Tornadoes (17), Warri Wolves (17), 3SC (15), and Katsina United (15) complete the top six.
At the other end of the table, Plateau United (12), Bayelsa United (11), Remo Stars (10), Barau FC (10), Bendel Insurance (7), and Kano Pillars (5) occupy the bottom six positions.
