Niger Tornadoes’ head coach, Majin Mohammed, has attributed his team’s disappointing 1-1 home draw against Nasarawa United to the pressure of playing in front of a large crowd for the first time in years.

The Ikon Allah Boys returned to their home ground, the Bako Kontagora Memorial Stadium in Minna, for the first time since 2020 following a pitch renovation.

Despite the significance of the match, the team could not secure a victory against their North Central rivals.

Majin Mohammed pointed out that the unfamiliarity with playing under a big crowd may have contributed to the team’s lackluster performance.

“The pressure of returning home after four years affected them. They’ve not been used to this type of crowd in a home game for a while now, maybe that’s the cause,” Majin explained to the press after the game.

Looking ahead, Niger Tornadoes will face Plateau United on Sunday, September 22, and will follow up with another home match against Bendel Insurance on Sunday, September 29.
